Epson 2100 & Mac OS X

I’ve posted on the Pixelmator forum about colour profiles a while ago… it’s probably been the hardest thing to deal with in my transition from a Windows to a Mac user…
I’ve upgraded to Snow Leopard and had to reassign the driver for the Epson 2100 (Gutenprint v5.2.3, there was some issue with the PPD – dunno what, went away as soon as I reselected the driver) but apart from that nothing has changed with respect to printing…
However, this evening I have made a discovery that I hope is useful to someone out there… when printing I’ve noticed that the printer driver can get itself in a right old mess showing a 2% or 6% or 53% completed printout from start to finish, and the page feed button lights up on the printer and the print itself either doesn’t work or pages are spooled through with a 1cm printed strip at the top… pain in the whole and a right waste of expensive paper…
I’ve discovered that if the paper is in the feeder before clicking Print in the print dialogue that it seems to print ok first time everytime… if this changes I’ll post an update but if you’ve got an Epson 2100 (aka 2200) and are having these issues make sure the paper is in the feeder first :)
